Kickstarter and Citrus Island Studios

All around the world, talented musicians are becoming financially broke musicians because of their lack of ability to properly allocate funds to complete their recording projects.  This lack of ability might simply be ignorance to the available independent resources.

Kickstarter is an awesome program in which anyone with an idea, even though musicians and filmmakers predominantly use it more, can raise money to fund the project.  The way to do this is to make a promotional video describing the who, what, where, why and when.  Once you have an advertisement established, you can set tiers of donations which each come with some form of incentive to be awarded to the donating party.  For this blog, I’ll use the example of an artist whose EP will be recorded by me at Citrus Island Studios. 

Ryan Cyphers is a phenomenal guitarist who, through a mutual friend, heard about my studio, CitrusIsland Studios, and decided to take a tour.  Ryan is also a YouTube partner with thousands of views per video, and he has a few hundred videos posted.  After sitting down with Ryan and discussing music and the direction of his project, I was delighted to find out that he chose my facility over three others he was shopping.  We negotiated our terms and included our mutual friend to film the entire process of recording the EP.  I’m excited to have my entire studio featured, but I’m even more excited to work with Ryan and his ridiculously talented guitar playing skills.

For his Kickstarter page he is offering a copy of the EP, a signed copy of the EP, a copy signed by the both of us and a T-shirt, guitar lessons one on one with Ryan, and a trip to the studio for a personal session with Ryan.  He has done a phenomenal job of getting a fan base following from just playing covers, and now, after his fans have begged for it, he will be releasing original material from his library of 200 plus songs in the format of a five track EP.  I’m excited to have him and a few other studio musicians in the building to put together an EP that could change Ryan’s career.  Click on the highlighted links for more info about Kickstarter and to view Ryan’s previous works.
