Bobby McFerrin

It is a common fact that music is a universal language, the math of audible stimulation.  But, I didn’t realize how predictably ingrained the notes that make up this world wide language were to society until I watched this video of Bobby McFerrin. 

He barely even says a word or explains anything he is doing, even after the fact.  He simply jumps to each of the notes in the pentatonic scale and the crowd follows without an ounce of hesitation.  It’s almost insane how easily the crowd was able to predict where he was going with each stop, so easy that he layered his own melody on top of it.

This approach to his presentation stands out greatly to me, because his speech is simply action.  It is action that demonstrates how important music is to us as humans no matter what region of the world we reside in.
