As a newly welcomed Audio Engineering Society member, I am looking forward to attending my first convention or workshop. It seems that the soonest program gathering I will be able to attend is the Nashville Recording Workshopand Expo in March of this year.
The AudioEngineering Society is a community of industry professionals dedicated to keeping its members current in the constantly evolving audio engineering world. Being dedicated to audio technology doesn’t just take the form of expos and conventions. The AES allows its members access to libraries of technical documents and research along with a vast community of networking opportunities. Not only does the AES connect industry professionals, they reach out to students strengthening their education to better prepare for entry into the industry. That’s where I fit in.
As a student member I am eager to attend the conventions and workshops as much as possible. It’s a phenomenal opportunity to develop my knowledge and skills as an audio engineer as well as my peers. The upcoming Nashville Recording Workshop will be my first opportunity to meet with an abundance of fellow home studio owners and operators, musicians and audiophiles alike. Gathering this much collective knowledge and experience in one place will help the people who run this audio engineering workforce grow to become bigger and better consistently. And this particular one takes place in Nashville at that, a so-called music mecca for songwriters, producers and engineers alike. It will be great to see all levels of the industry represented with a common goal: to make the best possible recordings we can.
